📣 Call for Proposals: Anthology Guest Editor

You’ll be responsible for editing 10-20 selected stories (3,000–5,000 words each).
A curated longlist of finalists will be provided. You’ll review these and make final selections.

Honorarium: 400$ CAD

Role

Provide developmental or line edits on accepted stories
Offer editorial feedback to authors in a collaborative and supportive tone
Ensure stories meet the anthology’s thematic, tone, and content guidelines
Support final proofing and continuity checks before publication

Requirements

Familiarity with the anthology genre you are applying for
Professional or volunteer editorial experience in fiction (paid or unpaid)
Excellent communication and collaborative editing skills
Comfortable working on Google Docs
Strict adherence to deadlines

Theme:
We are seeking speculative short stories (3,000–5,000 words) that explore hidden bargains, mysterious contracts, and eerie agreements. Think cursed pacts, veiled deals, ancestral oaths, and otherworldly negotiations. Stories may be fantasy, horror, supernatural, sci-fi, folkloric, or genre-bending, but must center on the idea of an agreement with consequences.

Content Requirements:

PG-13 max: no gore, explicit sexual content, or graphic violence
Original, unpublished work only
No AI-generated content
No simultaneous submissions or reprints

File Guidelines:

Submit your story as a .docx or .rtf file
Do not include your name anywhere in the manuscript or file name
File name format: Unseen Agreements_Story Title
Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 pt, douple-spaced, no indents.

Call for Cover Design / Cover Art

Application Deadline: July 1 to August 15, 2025
Honorarium: 100$ CAD minimum
Eligibility: International, but priority given to Canadians

Concept: “The Invisible Contract”

Visuals:

A parchment or scroll floating midair, surrounded by arcane symbols, ghostly hands, or smoke tendrils
A signature glowing faintly or being written in invisible ink
Background could be a dusky sky, old library, or interdimensional void

Mood:
Dark, mysterious, quietly magical—not horror, but unsettling
Think: liminal, mythic, enigmatic
Palette: Deep purples, charcoal, tarnished gold, flickers of light
Fonts: Elegant serif for title, mystical script overlay for accent

Comparable Covers: Dark Matter Magazine, The Gollancz Book of South Asian Science Fiction

Requirements:

Emerging or established Canadian illustrators, visual artists, or graphic designers
Must be a Canadian citizen (proof required upon selection)
Previous book cover experience not required, but portfolio samples expected
A brief pitch, moodboard, and a concept sketch.

Theme:
We are seeking sweet and emotionally satisfying romance stories (3,000–5,000 words) featuring meet-cutes in outdoor settings. From hikes and beaches to rainstorms and back gardens, we want stories where nature brings people together and sparks something real.

Content Requirements:

PG-13 only: no on-page sex, graphic language, or explicit scenes
Must end on a hopeful or uplifting romantic note (HEA)
Original, unpublished work only
No simultaneous submissions or reprints

We are seeking psychological thriller stories (3,000–5,000 words) that explore unreliable narrators, emotional unraveling, and mental tension. Think obsession, gaslighting, domestic suspense, or quiet dread—no jump scares needed, just compelling internal stakes.

Content Requirements:

PG-13: no gore, torture, or explicit sexual content
No supernatural elements
Original, unpublished work only
No AI-generated content
No simultaneous submissions or reprints
Canadian citizens only (proof required upon acceptance)
